"This is a really quaint building
incorporating B&B, Post Office, Shop selling lots of local produce and a lovely,
unassuming tea room.
The owners could not be more accommodating and friendly, from greeting you with
a drink to allowing you to relax in their cared for yet natural garden.
Breakfast is wonderful - anything you want - full english, amazing fresh fruit
salad, locally made granola, croissants etc
The rooms are lovely, nicely furnished and spacious, with gorgeous luxury bed
linen, lots of different teas and coffees, and complimentary local nibbles -
cakes and bars this visit, local fudge and biscuits last visit. The village is
ancient and picturesque and the window looks to the chapel next door converted
now to an amazing yoga sanctuary/retreat, open to all.
The bathroom is large, beautiful and modern in a victorian style with an amazing
range of complimentary toiletries. It's shared with another room.
And lovliest of all, as the evening draws in, candles are lit all over the house
- in the hall and landing, the dining room, and in the bathroom - such a lovely
touch!
And the bed is the comfiest I've ever slept in, other than my own!
Thoroughly recommended!"

"On our holiday in
the south of England we found this wonderful village. We planned to stay for one
night, but it ended with four nights. The Halcyon Room and the breakfast was
excellent in all ways, and the village was very good
base for excursions. The owners of the B & B was outstanding. More generous,
warm, caring and friendly people its hard to find.
We will absolutely recommend this B&B to all our friends. Stayed July 2013,
travelled as a couple."

"My wife and I have
just returned from a glorious stay at this wonderful B&B. Set in Picture
postcard surroundings, Jan & Rick are the warmest hosts at this quintessentially
English country escape.
We headed down for a friends wedding but this wonderfully cosy B&B turned our
stay into a really relaxing mini break. Everything is catered for, from the vast
selection of Teas and Coffees with locally sourced snacks a real treat. The
rooms are intimately and thoughtfully decorated, whether you fancy a read of one
of the many vintage paperbacks scattered around or a soak in the deep roll top
bath, The Fontmell Village Shop whisks you into a green and pleasant paradise!
I haven't even begun to talk about the breakfast. Jan provides the most glorious
spread of fresh pastries, jams, cereals, fruits and yoghurts before treating you
to the main event: The Cooked Breakfast. The Full English was certainly true to
its name, filling indeed and with all the ingredients from the surrounding area
you can taste the many English delights; from the fresh tomatoes to bright
yellow eggs and sausages so plump they could burst. All washed down with fresh
orange juice and lovely china mugs of coffee.
The Tea-shop has a 1940s feel which accentuates the rural aspect of the place
with details and charm by the bucket load. Jan & Rick went far beyond the call
of duty in making sure we had everything we needed; far surpassing our
expectations and making the entire experience a true pleasure with personal
touches throughout.
We went for a wedding but we'll be going back again soon with the thinnest of
excuses. Good Job and see you soon!
Stayed August 2013, travelled as a couple."

"We stayed here one
night for a nearby wedding, but wished that we could have stayed longer. We
stayed in the 'overspill' guest room upstairs but it was still a good size and
having a shower/toilet right next door meant we felt pretty self-contained.
Breakfast was amazing - a huge amount of food and all delicious. We had our 2
year old daughter with us and the owners were very welcoming of her, giving her
raspberries for the journey home for example and letting her go out into the
garden to see their cat. Their tea rooms also look fab - though we didn't have
chance to try them out! Would love to return and would highly recommend.
Stayed September 2013, travelled with family."
